Listening for gist (5-8 minutes) • To encourage Ss to listen for gist/general understanding. For learners to get an overview of the text.

After showing and introducing the pictures with a ppt, Teacher will keep the pics on the board and ask the Ss to form groups in colours. (red, blue, green, orange groups) after they have formed group teacher will ask them to look at the pictures and discuss in groups which ones were mentioned by men (M) and which by women (W)? Teacher will give them 2 mins and then the one person from the groups will come up and write their answers on the picture. Teacher gives handout called Guess who said it. Ss will complete this handout while listening to the tracks. Afterwards the Ss sit back down in groups and then listen to the tracks 1.43 - 1.48. This time to see whether they were mentioned by a man or a woman. Ss will discuss in groups and write their answers again on the board.

Listening for specific info (10-12 minutes) • To practice listening for specific information. To further familiarise learners with the text.

Teacher will put Ss in 3-4 groups of colors. (red, blue, green, and orange) The teacher then has Ss form a big circle but the groups sit next to their partners in the circle. Teacher puts one trash can in the middle of the circle. The teacher tells the Ss they will play a game and they will have to listen to the tracks again and then after each track , Teacher will stop the audio and ask the Ss a question. e.g. ( Where did they go on holiday?) Ss will be given coloured paper to make into paper balls. Ss will have to throw a coloured paper ball into the trash can and who ever throws it in first will get to answer the question. If group gets it right they get one point on the board. If group gets it wrong it goes to the next group that threw it in the trashcan. Teacher and groups continue this game through all the tracks. 1.43-1.48 Winner gets prizes.;)

Teacher and Ss will do the first one together as a demo. After the Ss finished the teacher asks Ss to switch papers with the person sitting to the left of them. Teacher puts answers on the board and Ss correct each others papers.

Listening for inference (4-5 minutes) • To practice listening for inferred meanings (either at word or text level) For learners to understand the text in more depth.

Teacher shows the class a few sentences from the text on a ppt. Teacher asks them to get into pairs and discuss the true meaning behind the text. E.g. We'll have plenty of time to catch up on our sleep when we get back home. (Possible answers: These girls may not work so all they do is sleep back home or they have such boring lives and they don't do anything exciting back home so they just sleep.) Teacher monitors pairs and helps when needed to further digest the sentences. Teacher asks volunteers to come up and present their thoughts on these qoutes.

Speaking task (2-4 minutes) • To allow an opportunity to react to the text. To develop oral fluency on the topic. To provide an opportunity to personalise the topic.

Teacher shows a picture of Thailand and tells them that Thailand was the best place she has ever had a holiday because she loves Muay Thai, and coconut water.
