Description

In this lesson, students review and practice the future tenses in the context of green houses. First, they complete a highlighting task to attract their attention to the target language. Then, they are given a guided discovery tasks including a matching actvitiy and then a handout with CCQs and form gaps to fill.Finally, controlled followed by a semi controlled then a freer practices take place.

Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To link my lesson with the previous one and set the topic of the lesson ahead

Teacher writes two or three sentences taken from the previous listening text on the Wb. She asks the students "where did you hear these sentences before?" Students should answer in the listening text. "What was the topic? A green house competition "And what tense do they share? Future

Highlighting (3-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher provides the students with handouts including part of the audioscript.She asks them to underline all the future sentences.Then, they check with their partners.Finally, a WCFB happens.

Clarification (4-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronounciation of the target language

●Each pair of students is given teo groups of slips of papers.One includes future sentences and the other the functions of these sentences. They are asked to work with partner to match them. Then, a WCFB is conducted. ● students are given guided discovery handouts to fill with their partners. ●Teacher monitors the students noticing their weakness points and providing help if needed. ● A WCFB happens taking into consideration their needs and problems ● pronunciation including connected speech is modelled and drilled.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and consolidate understanding

● students are provided with a dialogue to complete by choosing the correct answers. ● first they work indivisually. ● Pair check ● a deep WCFB by asking questions like why?

Semi controlled practice (5-8 minutes) • To further check understanding and provide an accuracy and fluency speaking activity about the context

● Teacher shows two papers includong lists off questions for the student A and for B.she says that you have 30 seconds to read and choose an answer for one of the quesrions.Then, you will say the answer to your partner who should guess the question. ● Teacher models the activity with one of the stongest students. ● when finishing one question they move to another ● WCFB happens by nominating some students to share their questions

Freer practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide fluency speaking practice about the context

● Teacher divides the students into groups of three ● teacher instructs that each group will judge in a green lifestule competition ● Teacher says that each one will get a product and they need to tell thwir partners about their products ● The group makes a decision about the first,second and third winners. ● Teacher regroup them to have students from different groups talking about their choices.
