To provide detailed reading practice using a text about News and Views for a Greener World in the context of the environment
To provide fluency speaking practice in a different lifestyles in the context of the environment
Procedure (33-45 minutes)
- To display some pictures and Ss have to expect the main topic of the lesson. - To ask Ss some general questions for discussions. Ss work in pairs. All answers will be accepted.
To ask the students more general related questions about a leaflet. They can check their answers in pairs.
-To get the Ss elicit what a compound noun is. - To introduce the first part of the compound nouns. - To give them hand-outs to form the different compound nouns. - Ss work in pairs. - To give WCFB.
-To have Ss elicit that the reading is a webpage which gives information about the environment. - Ss will read to match the photos (A-F) to the stories (1-6). - Ss check their answers in pairs. - To give them WCFB.
To write some words on the board and to have students scan the text to find where those words are in the text.(in which stories). - To give them an answer key.
Students read the webpage again to complete the stories with the sentences (a-f). To monitor the students during reading. - Students check their answers in pairs when finishing. - To write the correct answers on the board.
- Ss read the definitions ( 1-5). - Ss read the highlighted words on the webpage. -Ss match the definitions with the highlighted words. -They can check in pairs. To make WCFB
- To divide Ss into pairs. - To give them hang-outs that have different life styles. - Each one should prepare his ideas about his own lifestyle. Ss work in pairs each ond defend his own lifestyle and try to convince other others to follow it.
