Board the following question and ask the Ss to share their ideas in pairs: " Would you like to take a few days off and go away?" or make the question easier " do like to do sth unusal for example don't go to school, don't do daily routines or responsibilities? " If yes, What would you do?"

Conversation strategy (19-22 minutes) • Responding to suggestions

* ask the Ss to look at the photo on page 70 and guess the answer of the following questions in pairs: " Where are they?" In a supermarket " How old are they?" Maybe teenagers " What are they probably going to do?" Maybe taking some days off and going on a trip. * Listen to track 3.08 with closed books and check their answers. Then open their books and listen again and repeat the conversation then play the roles of Chris and Stan in turns. * Ask some volunteers to play the roles without their books. Make them sure that making mistakes in their conversation is not important, just let them speak with whatever they remember. * Write on top right of the board SUGGESTIONS YOU LIKE and on top left SUGGESTIONS YOU DON'T LIKE, then ask the Ss to find the examples in the conversation and say them aloud, and you write them on the board. CCQs: - When u agree with a suggestion, which expressions do you use, right or left? right - When u disagree with a suggestion, Which expressions do you use, right or left? left * Ask them to make some suggestions and use the expressions. * Have the Ss complete the task in part D and then share the answers in pairs. * Practice the questions in part D again but with their own responses Encourage the Ss to continue as long as they can use their own ideas.

Strategy plus (8-10 minutes) • To activate using I GUESS in conversation

* Ask a S to read the strategy plus in part 2 aloud. Explain them that sometimes people use the expression I GUESS to when they are uncertain or less definite about something. CCQs: - When you use I GUESS, are u sure about it or not? Not sure - When you use I GUESS, do you want to sound sure or not? not sure * Read the instruction aloud and ask the Ss to complete the gaps and then listen to track 3.09 and write where they here I GUESS. * Tell the Ss to practice the conversation in pairs and taking turns playing the roles.

Activation (8-10 minutes) • To activate using some expressions about responding to suggestions

Group them in 3 or 4. Give them a card with a situation such as TRAVELING, HANGING OUT, ... and ask them to make some suggestions and agree or disagree with each others' ideas. At the end they should come up with a plan which every one in the group agrees with.
