  • To provide product writing practice of a PARAGRAPH in the context of MUSIC TASTE

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about MUSIC TASTE

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

SS ARE SHOWN A VIDEO OF A MAN LISTENING TO MUSIC AND ASKED "WHAT DOES HE DO?" AND "HOW DOES HE FEEL?". LATER T PERSONALIZES THE TOPIC BY GIVING A PERSONAL EXAMPLE AND ASK SEVERAL STUDENTS: "WHAT SONG MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE THIS?"

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

SS ARE GIVEN TWO QUESTIONS: WHAT DOES SHE TALK ABOUT AND DOES SHE LISTEN TO MUSIC A LOT. THEN THEY ARE PRESENTED WITH THE AUDIO TRACK. THEY CHECK THE IRANSWERS IN PAIRS. T ASKS ABOUT THE ANSWERS IN AN OPEN SETTING.

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

SS LISTEN TO THE AUDIO TRACK AGAIN AND IN A CLASS DISCUSSION, T ELICITS THE GUIDING QUESTIONS FOR THE PRODUCTIVE TASK AND WRITE THEM ON THE WHITEBOARD. THESE QUESTIONS REMAIN ON THE WHITEBOARD TILL THE FEEDBACK SESSION

Productive Task(s) (13-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

SS ARE ASKED TO WRITE A PARAGRAPH SIMILAR TO WHAT THEY HAVE HEARD FROM THE TRACK. T OBSERVES WHILE SS WRITE AND TAKE NOTES TO PRESENT IN THE DELAYED CORRECTION STAGE. WHEN FINISHED, SS SHOW THEIR PRODUCTS TO THE T, THEN EXCHANGE THEIR PRODUCTS WITH THEIR PARTNERS TO GIVE FEEDBACK AND TO TALK ABOUT THEM IN AN OPEN SETTING.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T UTILIZES THE NOTES TAKEN AND GIVES FEEDBACK ON EXAMPLARY SENTENCES FROM THE SS' PRODUCTS. INSTEAD OF SHOWING WHAT IS WRONG, T ASKS OTHER STUDENTS IN AN OPEN SETTING TO CORRECT THE MISTAKES.
