Holiday USA
Elementary level

Description

In this lesson, students will practice listening and speaking through the context of "Holidays". The course will start by students brainstorming information related to San Francisco as a warmer. The students will then link some words that are related their pictures as a lead in. Furthermore, the students will have another task related to vocabulary, I decided to include this task in order to define and explain some of the vocabulary which might cause a problem for the students during the lesson. Later students will listen to a recording and are asked to put pictures in order as a gist reading. Students then have to do a detailed listening exercise, in which they have to match activities to the places they are linked to. lastly, the lesson will end in a speaking activity in which students will be divided into groups and will be asked to walk around the classroom and look at the pictures on the wall and talk about the different destinations shown, which one do they prefer, etc. Students later will be asked to write 2/3 sentences talking about the country they would like to visit.( from the 5 pictures)

I will ask them to use the words they have learned and practiced during the previous session of vocabulary. ( During this period I will have the vocabulary displayed on the WB to help the students ) When the students are done, I will ask them to get back to their seats and write 2 sentences about their favorite destination out of the 5 picture they have seen and what are the activities they would do there.
