  • To introduce and provide practice of speaking for fluency in the context of giving tips for a foreign visitor to your country

  • To develop students’ ability to use expressions for giving advice and describing social norms.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show Presentation, invite the SS to find the slide with their names. The slides show 3 different unusual customs around the world; students have to match them with the country they think they are from. Afterwards, elicit ss to give their respectful opinions of some. Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Show and share Google Form. Tell students they will listen to 4 people talking about social customs in their countries. Tell students they have to choose the correct answer in each question. Play each audio ONCE. Tell students to submit their answers; check and clarify any misunderstandings. Useful Language (12-15 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Stage 1: Intensive Listening Share Google Form 2. Fill the blank exercise. Tell the SS they need to listen to an audio, once, and write what they hear. Tell them to NOT submit their answers so that they know them when checking later on. Productive Task(s) (12-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Tell SS to think about where they live: where is it? what would you recommend? what are some costums visitors should be aware of? What to do? What not to do? Students will have 3 minutes to think, before being sent to BOR. SS practice their reviews, after 5 minutes, SS change partners and they do the same activity. SS are encouraged to ask questions.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Ask to SS to give feedback of one of the two places they listened to, and why they would prefer to go there rather than the other one. Give general FB, praising good use and correct any mistakes.
