Subsidiary Aims

  • To review reported questions and requests.
  • To review tense/pronoun/time shifts in Reported Speech statements.
  • To review question tag formation.
  • To assess independent control through a timed weekly test.

Procedure

Activation (25-30 minutes) • Let the students wake up and start the day with more energy and enthusiasm.

Communication and Action. Everyone goes out. The students form a circle holding hands. Teacher will be the guide and will give directions to the students. Students need to listen carefully to the teacher's indications, and need to follow them as a group. Some rounds will be doing the opposite the teacher says.

Review (38-40 minutes) • Reactivate Week 11 targets through movement and fast recall with controlled speaking.

Explain rules: -Teacher tosses the ball to a student and reads a prompt. -Student answers quickly (10 seconds). -Student tosses ball to another student for the next prompt. -If incorrect, student can "phone a friend" once (team support). -Use 3 rounds (approx. 12 minutes each) + quick point tally. Round A - Reported Speech Statements -Teacher reads a direct sentence; student reports it. Round B - Reported Questions/Requests -Teacher reads a direct question/request; student reports it. Round C - Question Tags -Teacher says a statement; student adds the correct tag.

Transition to Test (3-5 minutes) • Calm students and set clear test conditions.

Students return inside, sit down, clear desks. Explain: individual work, silence, time limit (40 min). Distribute tests face down; start timer.

Weekly Test (38-40 minutes) • Assess independent control of Week 11 grammar.

Students complete test. Teacher monitors quietly; 15,10, and 5-minute warning. Collect tests.

Cool Down (3-5 minutes) • End positively and lower stress.
