Description

In this lesson, students learn how to talk about advertisements. The lesson starts when the teacher shows the learners a couple of creative advertisements in order to give them the general idea of what they are supposed to do! The students look at the pictures and talk about what they see and share their ideas about the creativity behind the advertisements. Then the teacher divides the class into three groups and asks them to think of a product and try to make an advertisement for that! Students are supposed to present their work afterwards.

Main Aims

  • The main aim of this lesson is to provide the students with speaking skills through an activity for which they have learned proper language in the previous lessons.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give them the opportunity to improve their self-confidence.

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To acctivate students' current knowledge of the topic and to get them interested in the topic

The teacher shows the learners a couple of creative and cool advertisements in order to give them the general idea of what they are supposed to do! The students look at the pictures and talk about what they see and share their ideas about the creativity behind the advertisements.

Preparation 1 (2-3 minutes) • To provide them with the opportunity to think and decide which product they are able to work on

The teacher divides the class into three groups and asks them each to think of a product they can talk about very well for which that they can make a successful advertisement.

Preparation 2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide the students enough time to put their ideas down and work on their projects

At this stage, the students are given time to work in groups using the available materials to design and make an advertisement for a product The teacher walks around the group and helps them with stuff!

Preparation time for the presentation (Rehearsal) (5-7 minutes) • To give the students enough time to make their final changes and get prepared to present their work

The teacher sets limited time for students to practice the act of presenting their work and remind the that "presentation" is more than reading a text aloud. She explains that they need to try to communicate with their audience in an interesting and attracting way and use a variety of intonations.

Group A Presentation (4-5 minutes) • To provide the first group to present their art work!

The teacher asks one volunteer from the first group to come in front of the class and present their advertisement. The teacher gives the other two groups a handout including some questions to get them involved with the listening to the presenter in order to stop them from talking or working on their own projects after the time limit.

Group B Presentation (4-5 minutes) • To provide the second group to present their art work!

The teacher asks one volunteer from the second group to come in front of the class and present their advertisement. The teacher gives the other two groups a handout including some questions to get them involved with the listening to the presenter in order to stop them from talking or working on their own projects after the time limit.

Group C Presentation (4-5 minutes) • To provide the third group to present their art work!

The teacher asks one volunteer from the third group to come in front of the class and present their advertisement. The teacher gives the other two groups a handout including some questions to get them involved with the listening to the presenter in order to stop them from talking or working on their own projects after the time limit.

Feedback / Error correction (4-5 minutes) • To allow learners to compare results of the task and to provide content feedback and to correct their mistakes

Finally the teacher asks them about their idea about all the three projects and draws their attention to some of the mistakes she has written down either during the group work or the presentation.
