Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

show ss some pictures of islands (populated and deserted ones). CCQs; what are the differences between the two pictures? Can you live alone in that island?why? Is it a good idea to live there? What do we call an island where there are no people living in it? Elicit from them the word desert island. Introduce to them the idea of living in a desert island. (Show ss the title/headline "stuck on a desert island?" and get them to predict what the text will be about.)

Pre- reading /pre -teach vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Pre-teach : (be) cut off (from the world), pastry (pastries) go mad.

while reading /reading for gist (10-12 minutes)

Tell students that they are going to read the text very quickly then ask them to turn their texts over . In groups Ss have to match the texts with the names of the speakers. Check answers with the other groups.

detailed reading (5-10 minutes)

Ex 12 c workbook p 72. Give ss five minutes to read the short texts and answer the questions. Ss compare and check their answers with their colleagues. Feedback.

Follow up:productive skill :writing (5-10 minutes)

SS have to do task 12 a p72. Ask ss to write a short comments about what the things they will miss the most and least if they were stuck on a desert island to post them on the website Talkingpoints.com
