Description

This session is dedicated to reviewing the weekly exam results in a supportive and communicative environment. The focus is on understanding common mistakes, reinforcing correct language use, and helping students reflect on their learning without creating anxiety or pressure.

Main Aims

  • To consolidate learning by reviewing and clarifying key points from the weekly test.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To reduce anxiety related to testing and correction.
  • To help students recognize and understand common mistakes.
  • To make sure they understood the differences of the verb tenses.
  • To proficiently use conditionals.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • Create a calm, supportive atmosphere and set clear expectations for the review.

The teacher welcomes students and explains that the session is about learning from mistakes, not judging performance. Clarify that participation is encouraged and mistakes are normal. Students keep tests face down at this stage.

General Feedback (6-8 minutes) • Help students understand overall performance and common difficulties.

The teacher gives general feedback without mentioning individual names or scores. Highlight: -One or two things the group did well -One or two areas that need improvement Write common problem areas on the board (no specific answers yet).

Test Review (30-32 minutes) • Clarify common errors and reinforce correct answers through guided discussion.

Review questions from the test. Elicit answers from students before confirming. Highlight patterns of mistakes without naming individuals.

Student Questions & Clarification (8-10 minutes) • Encourage learner autonomy and self-reflection.

Students look at their own exams. They identify one or two questions they found difficult. Students ask questions openly. When possible, classmates explain answers before the teacher intervenes.

Wrap-Up (3-5 minutes) • Reinforce confidence and close the session on a positive note.

The teacher highlights general progress and effort. Mention common improvements seen in the exams. Encourage students for the next week.
