Unit 7 - Sports
A2 level

Description

his 45-minute A2 lesson introduces students to vocabulary related to travel and transport while developing their speaking confidence and communicative skills. Through a series of interactive activities, learners practice naming different types of transportation and using common verbs such as drive, ride, fly, sail, and take to describe how people travel. The lesson begins with a short warm-up discussion in which students ask classmates how they came to school, activating their background knowledge and encouraging immediate speaking practice. Students are then introduced to key transport vocabulary through pictures and a fun “Sound Guess” activity, where they identify types of transport from sound effects. Next, learners participate in a sorting game, categorizing transport into air, land, and sea, which reinforces vocabulary understanding through collaboration and movement. Students then learn how to combine verbs with transport, practicing useful patterns such as ride a bike and take the bus through guided pair speaking. The lesson also includes a short reading task about a trip to London, where students identify key travel words and answer simple comprehension questions. To further develop fluency, students take part in a speaking game in which they ask and answer questions about how to travel to different places. The lesson concludes with a quick and energetic transport charades game, allowing students to review vocabulary in a fun and memorable way. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize common transport vocabulary, use appropriate travel verbs, and ask and answer simple questions about how people travel from one place to another.
