In this lesson ss will practise how to make polite requests.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher may start by asking ss : Could you please give a blue pen? Can I take this chair please? I have an urgent call ,would you mind giving m your phone please? These questions will engage ss' attention and get them to guess where the teacher is heading with his lesson. Then the teacher uses gestures and facial expressions to elicit from them the word "polite request".

listening (10-15 minutes) • Meaning Form Pronunciation Appropriacy

After checking the meaning in the first stage.Now ss will be exposed to the myriad of forms on ho to express polite requests. The teacher provides ss with handouts p72 (SB).They will listen to tape 7.1 and they have to find the person who is making the request each time. Ss have to check and compare their answers with their colleagues. Then the teacher gives ss the requests and show them the answer on the board.

Controlled speaking (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

the teacher divides the clas into 2 groups A and B. Goup A will have the requests and group B will get the answers. The teacher demonstrates how ss will do this task. In pairs, ss have to read requests and responses papers aloud. At the end of this stage the teacher removes the responses and let ss continue their speaking practice.

freer practice (8-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to start their own requests based on a situation or a picture.

The teacher provides ss with a situational context or shows them pictures on the board. in pairs Ss have to make up their own dialogue.
