Procedure (54-60 minutes)
Explain that students will watch a large portion of the movie in English with English subtitles. Tell them their task while watching is to: -Write down new vocabulary or expressions they hear. -Note words or phrases that catch their attention. -Write one interesting moment or scene they notice. Clarify that they should focus on understanding the story, not every single word.
Play the movie with English subtitles. Students watch and take notes. Optionally pause once or twice (unless it is considered to be really necessary) at an important moment to briefly ask: -What just happened? -Why did the character react like that? -What do you think will happen next?
Ask several students to share words or expressions they wrote down. For each word: -Ask if anyone knows the meaning. -Clarify using the context from the movie. *If it is the second session watching the movie, discuss what they watched, what they thought, and how they felt, as well as their favorite part.
