Description

In this lesson learners are provided with the main strategies of speaking.Fillers and other verbal strategies followed by non-verbal ones are the main focus.because the listening part of this lesson is covering fillers in speaking and the context is lateness ,this part has been covered by these notions.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a How to cope with the breakdowns of speaking in the context of lateness

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Time (Lateness) in the context of Coming late

Procedure

warmer (3-10 minutes) • To engage students and asking question about their attitudes how to be fluent

In this phase the instructor raises a question : the most problematic areas in speaking. Then learners are asked to tell about the definition of fluency and ways of achieving this process.Afterwards,they start talking in pairs .

Guided discovery (8-10 minutes) • To create a chance for learners to discover and be more independent

After sharpening their background knowledge ,in a piece of paper they write about any kinds of fillers they know,then there is time to compare their drafts with the main source (sticking on the wall or on PC). During their discovery,the instructor is approachable and helpful.

Use of Language (8-15 minutes) • useful language for coming productive tasks

This stage consists of engaging learners in pairs having a broader perspective towards fillers and strategies. They start talking in pairs to be more confident in understanding the meanings and right places of different fillers. It should be noted that the context of speaking is Lateness.

semantic mapping (Lateness) (18-20 minutes) • To provide the students with the context (teaching new words by cognitive process and guided discovery)

Working on useful vocabularies related to the context is the main focus of this stage. By the virtues of self discovery learners find it more interesting to work on the meaning of the new phrases and vocabularies presented in context.

production and clarification (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

According to the context (lateness) and using the fillers and strategies learners try to have their own roles in speech (working in pairs) just after working on the main chart of strategies and it`s related categories.Finally a listening would cover the lesson for reviewing and checking the fillers in real language.
