Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ensure that the ss' name cards are ready. ss look at the picture of my grandparents and ask me few questions: when were your grandparents born? where were they born? what were their jobs? Ask each other the questions in pairs

Clarification and Exposure of the target language (10-15 minutes) • To provide context of the target language

Tell ss that am going to show a 40 sec Youtube clip to ss and they try to guess how old is she? what's her job? Show other pictures of the film star Set the listening task: Tell ss that am going to play a tape in which they will focus on the verbs, and complete the paragraphe with the missing verbs. Play tape Do the first one with the ss. let them continue. check in pairs play again Feedback: answers keys under the chairs ! Grammar spot : tell the students that they need to work in pairs and find examples of the past of is and can in the text and complete the sentences with work in the correct form monitor and correct on the board if needed CCQ: are we talking about the past, present or future ?(past) is she working in films now or she did in the past ? Controlled Practice#1 (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

divide students into groups give them two different colored pieces of paper: one color containing the base form of the verb and the other color containing the past form of the verbs. Ask students to work together and hang the matching verbs on the board.
