W9-D1-Test Review

Description

This session focuses on reviewing the weekly test in a structured and reflective way, and in a supportive and low-pressure environment. Instead of simply correcting answers, students identify patterns in their errors, explain grammar choices, and upgrade sentences for clarity and precision.

Main Aims

  • To consolidate grammar and language points assessed in the weekly test through guided reflection and discussion.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To help students recognize and understand common mistakes.
  • To reduce anxiety related to exams and corrections.
  • To reinforce confidence and motivation for the new week.

Procedure

Warm-up (8-10 minutes) • Activate self-awareness and lower anxiety before correction begins.

Ask students: -Which part of the test was the most difficult? -Which section felt easier than you expected? -Did you run out of time? Students briefly discuss in pairs first (2-3 minutes), then share with the class.

General Feedback (8-10 minutes) • Help students understand overall performance and common difficulties.

The teacher gives general feedback without mentioning individual names or scores. Highlight: -One or two things the group did well -One or two areas that need improvement Write common problem areas on the board (no specific answers yet).

Error Detective (28-30 minutes) • Encourage analytical thinking and explanation of grammar choices.

Read sentences from the test, especially the ones that caused problems. Write them on the board (with errors included if possible). Students find the mistake Correct it Explain WHY it's wrong Discuss as a class.

Upgrade the sentences (8-10 minutes) • Move from correction to improvement and fluency.

Take 2 correct but basic sentences from the test and ask: "How can we make this sentence better?" Students suggest improvements. Teacher corrects students mistake.
