Subsidiary Aims

  • Recognizing and producing cause–effect relationships in hypothetical contexts.
  • To provide extended speaking fluency practice as Ss talk about a hypothetical situations.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

What would you do? Look at the picture. Take it to the police station? What if there is no identification in the wallet to locate the owner? What if it was money from a drug deal? What if no one sees you pick it up?

Exposure - Text-work - gist - intensive - get TL (7-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Share G-form in chat. (What would you do?) Ask Ss to read the questions and answer the multiple choice. They have 3 minutes. There are no wrong answers. Send to break out rooms for 2 minutes to discuss.

Clarification - Language Focus - MFP (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Review the sentences to identify common mistakes and reinforce the pattern of Second Conditional. 1. If your day had 25 hours in it, what would you do with the extra hour? 2. If you suddenly had a month of free time, how would you spend it? 3. If you had unlimited money, what would you do differently in life?
