Description

This session focuses on reviewing the weekly test through guided analysis, peer discussion, and sentence reformulation. Instead of simply correcting answers, students identify patterns in their errors, explain grammar choices, and upgrade sentences for clarity and precision.

Main Aims

  • To consolidate grammar and language points assessed in the weekly test through reflective and analytical discussion.

  • To develop metalinguistic awareness (explaining why something is correct/incorrect).
  • To encourage peer correction and collaborative reasoning.
  • To reinforce confidence and improvement mindset.

Procedure

Warm-up (8-10 minutes) • Encourage self-awareness and reduce anxiety before correction begins.

Students discuss in pairs: -What part of the test was most challenging? -What part felt easier than expected? -Did you feel confident while answering? Then brief whole-class sharing. Keep tone neutral and reflective.

Group Feedback (8-10 minutes) • Highlight overall strengths and weaknesses without focusing on individuals.

Teacher mentions where the group did well in, and where it needs to improve. Mention patterns such as: -Connector misuse -Modal verb confusion -Verb tense consistency -Sentence structure errors

Guided Whole-Class Review (30-35 minutes) • Develop analytical thinking and grammatical explanation skills.

Read sentences from the test, especially the ones that caused problems. Write them on the board (with errors included if possible). Students find the mistake Correct it Explain WHY it's wrong Discuss as a class. Push reasoning, not just correction.

Wrap-Up (3-5 minutes) • Reinforce confidence and close the session on a positive note.

The teacher highlights general progress and effort. Mention common improvements seen in the exams. Encourage students for the next week.
