Description

In this lesson students will go through body parts and describing appearance.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of body parts in the context of appearances

Subsidiary Aims

  • speaking practice in a dectation in the context of appearances

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will have a picture of a body,will gradually show the content of the picture, try to elicit "body" from students.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will demonstrate how the activity will work,by pointing to her arms and sticking the word arms on. T have the class grouped into 3,choose one students from each group for other students to label.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

When the activity is over T will point at random body parts while saying its name and ask students to do the same.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gives handout for the students to label the body figure. T writes on board the answer key for students to check their answers. T gives examples on board of plural form for the singular words. Use different colors for "a" article and plural of irregular foot feet.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T writes on board --- ------- ----------- hair. Ask students about my hair color,they might say yellow,I'll ask,yellow or blonde ? Then write blonde in the blanks, then mime it's mine,try to elicit I've got, if they couldn't know it i'll add a bit by bit trying to elicit more off them. Hang 2 photos of female and male. She's got He's got. Draw 4 things only. Model on board the activity which are pictures of different people with different features,students will work in pairs one describing the photo and one drawing it (I've got long hair,I've got blue eyes ) Then they switch parts,one describes and another draws.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Group the lass into 2 teams,orange and blue. Teacher will tell students about the writing task,write 4 sentences about yourself,don't write your name on the paper. I will give the orange papers to blue team to guess and vise versa. Giving examples on myself : T says If i will write about myself, I will say : I've got blonde hair,I've got short hair. ICQ,do you write your name or not ? Do you write about you or someone else ? Give time to write,collect papers and give one paper a time to each team to guess.
