  • To encourage peer explanation and collaborative correction.
  • To develop metalinguistic awareness (explaining why something is correct/incorrect).
  • To reinforce confidence and progress.

Procedure

Warm-up (8-10 minutes) • Activate self-awareness and lower anxiety before correction begins.

Ask students: -Which part of the test was the most difficult? -Which section felt easier than you expected? -Did you run out of time? Students briefly discuss in pairs first (2-3 minutes), then share with the class.

General Feedback (8-10 minutes) • Help students understand overall performance and common difficulties.

The teacher gives general feedback without mentioning individual names or scores. Highlight: -One or two things the group did well -One or two areas that need improvement Write common problem areas on the board (no specific answers yet).

Error Detective (28-30 minutes) • Encourage analytical thinking and explanation of grammar choices.

Read sentences from the test, especially the ones that caused problems. Write them on the board (with errors included if possible). Students find the mistake Correct it Explain WHY it's wrong Discuss as a class. Push them to use language like: "It should be..." "Because after _____ , we use______" "This is wrong because..."

Upgrade the sentences (8-10 minutes) • Move from correction to improvement and fluency.

Take 2 correct but basic sentences from the test and ask: "How can we make this sentence better?" Example: -Basic: I went to the clinic. -Upgraded: I went to the clinic because I had an appointment. Students suggest improvements (adding detail, connectors, reason, contrast).
