Description

This session is dedicated to reviewing the weekly test in a supportive and low-pressure environment. The focus is on understanding mistakes, reinforcing correct language use, and encouraging reflection and participation rather than focusing on grades or scores.

Main Aims

  • To consolidate learning by reviewing and clarifying key points from the weekly test.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To reduce anxiety related to testing and correction.
  • To encourage participation and peer explanation.
  • To reinforce confidence and motivation for the new week.
  • To help students recognize and understand common mistakes.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • Create a calm, supportive atmosphere and set clear expectations for the review.

The teacher welcomes students and explains that the session is about learning from mistakes, not judging performance. Clarify that participation is encouraged and mistakes are normal. Students keep tests face down at this stage.

General Feedback (8-10 minutes) • Help students understand overall performance and common difficulties.

The teacher gives general feedback without mentioning individual names or scores. Highlight: -One or two things the group did well -One or two areas that need improvement Write common problem areas on the board (no specific answers yet).

Guided Whole-Class Review (25-30 minutes) • Clarify frequent errors and reinforce correct language through guided discussion.

The teacher selects key test questions that caused difficulty. Questions or sentences are written on the board. Students are invited to suggest answers or corrections. The teacher confirms and briefly explains when necessary.

Individual Reflection & Doubts (12-15 minutes) • Encourage learner autonomy and personal reflection.

Students look at their own tests. They identify one question they got wrong or found difficult. Students ask questions; peers are encouraged to help explain first. The teacher supports and clarifies.
