Description

In this lesson Students will learn how to talk about likes and dislikes, using the present simple third person singular affirmative and negative and they will learn the names of animals.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At first stage,I will play Simon says game with the student and then,I will write zoo on the board and ask these questions:1-did you go to the zoo?2-which animal did you see in at the zoo?3-did you like it?3-who did you see?and I will elicit answers.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

For exercise 1 page 23,I will ask from students:1-what can you see?2-where is it?3-what is the girl doing?4-what is the boy doing?and I will elicit answers.Then ,I will say:now,listen and point.Students will listen and after that,I will play it again and students will repeat the names.Then,they will practice them with their friend .Then,I will say:guys,let's play a game.Then,I will show the picture to the students and I will ask two students to come to the board and point to the animal I name.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To give students further practice saying the animal names

For exercise 2 page 23,I will ask students to listen to the song.After that,I will play it again and students should listen and repeat.Then,I will ask students to listen again and repeat each sentences.Then,I will play the recording and I will ask to repeat two lines again.Then,I will ask students to sing the song in pairs.Then,I will ask them to sing the song in groups of A,b,c,d for the class.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • practicing the present simple and clarifying animal names and their food

For exercise 1 page 23,I will ask students :Guys,look at A,what is it?what is it doing?and I will elicit answers.Then,I will ask :so, number 1,goes with which photo?Then,I will ask :now,read the sentences 1 to 6 with your partner and I will monitor them.Then,I will ask :now,match the photos with the sentences.Finally,students will do it on their own and Check them with their friend and I will ask from the whole class.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

For exercise 2 page 23,I will ask students to look at the photo and I will ask:what is it?what is it doing?and I will elicit answers.Then,I will write penguin on the board and I will write the words fish and peas as well.Then,I will teach the grammar of likes and diislikes.After that,I will ask students to listen to the recording.Then,I will ask two students to read it for the class.Then,I will say:guys,let's play a game and I will write the names of other animals on the board and I will ask one pair to come to the board and match the animals with their food.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

For exercise 3 page 23,I will say:guys,this is the Simon the snake and I will read the text and I will ask them to underline these words:Simon,lives,eats,doesn't like.Then,I will read the text for the class.Then,I will show my photo which is a polar bear and tell them:guys,my favourite animal is polar bear and with the help of students I will write this text:This is Boris the polar bear.He lives the Arctic.He likes fish and he doesn't like warm weather.Then,I will ask students to draw their animal.Students will have time to draw their animal and they will check and describe it to their friend.After that,I will ask from the whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

As a free practice,I will play Hang man with them to review the animal names.
