Main Aims

  • To reinforce students' understanding and use of Week 5 grammar and language through guided review activities.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To reactivate previously learned structures through communicative tasks.
  • To identify areas of difficulty before introducing new content.
  • To promote peer interaction and collaborative problem-solving.
  • To build confidence and fluency without assessment pressure.

Procedure

Weekend Chat & Social Warm-up (25-30 minutes) • Build rapport and ease students into English use.

Students sit in a circle or semi-circle. The teacher opens with light prompts: One good thing from your weekend One thing you did / watched / ate One plan for this week Students speak freely; classmates ask follow-up questions. The teacher participates naturally. No correction is provided.

Outdoor Grammar Rally (38-40 minutes) • Reactivate Week 5 grammar through movement and competition.

Setup: Divide students into 2 teams of 4. Place the buzzer(s) 10-15 meters from the starting line. Explain the rules before starting. Rules (explained clearly): One runner per team per question. Correct answer = 1 point. Wrong answer = very light energy reset (see below). Teams rotate runners so everyone participates. Rally Rounds (approx. 10 min each) Round 1 - Choose the Correct Option Teacher reads a sentence with two options. First to touch the buzzer answers. Example: You ___ finish this today (must / should). Round 2 - Fix the Sentence Teacher reads an incorrect sentence. Runner must correct it completely. Example: She must to wear gloves. Round 3 - Explain the Choice Two similar sentences are given. Runner chooses the correct one and gives one short reason. Example: You must / should wear a helmet. Round 4 - Create the Sentence Teacher gives a context. Runner produces a correct sentence using Week 5 grammar. Example context: giving advice / obligation / polite request. Energy Resets (VERY light) Used only after incorrect answers. 5 jumping jacks 5 squats Jog in place for 10 seconds Stretch arms up and touch toes twice

Transition to Test (3-5 minutes) • Calm students and prepare them for assessment.

Students return to the classroom and sit down. The teacher explains: Test covers only Week 5 Individual and silent Duration: 40 minutes Answer procedural questions only. Distribute tests face down.

Weekly Test (38-40 minutes) • Assess students' independent grammatical control.

Students complete the test individually. The teacher monitors quietly. Give a 5-minute warning. Collect tests at the end.

Cool Down (3-5 minutes) • Lower energy levels and close the session positively.

Students stand up. Guide a short cool-down: Deep breath in / out (3 times) Shoulder rolls Neck stretch Thank students for their effort. Briefly preview Tuesday: Comparatives & Superlatives.
