Procedure (35-38 minutes)
Students will see two pictures (one of Sharm El Sheik beach and other of the pyramids) in one slide and two images in another slide (of Cairo and Alexandria in Egypt) and will discuss in pairs which place they consider more beautiful/cheaper and why.
Gist Task: Students will listen to a conversation between Patrick and Juliet and will answer where they want to go and why. They will have two minutes to listen to the audio and one more minute to answer and submit their answers. In total, they will have 3 minutes to make the exercise. After that, there will be OCFB to discuss the correct answers. ICQ: How many questions are you going to answer? -------------- Four ICQ: In these questions (pointing out the why? questions) How many options do you have to choose? -------------------- Two Intensive Task: Students will listen again and choose who said the sentence: Patrick or Juliet. Then, students will have two minutes to compare their answers. ICQ: How many questions are you going to answer? -------------- Five ICQ: What do you have to do after you answer the questions? ------------ Compare with a partner
In this stage, highlighting will work as well as a way to explain the meaning of comparatives. Students will see a piece of the conversation between Patrick and Juliet. They will highlight which sentences are used to compare places.

Form: After students highlight the expressions to compare places the teacher will make the following CCQ's to elicit form questions: CCQ's: What are these words: adjectives, nouns, verbs? -------------- adjectives In this adjective (pointing out the word busier), what comes next to it? -------------- -er in this adjective (pointing out the expression more interesting), what do we see before the adjective? ----------------- more After that, there will be an exercise where they will read the sentence and choose the correct option. Also, students will give examples of comparatives. CCQ's: If we have small, what's the comparative? ------------------- smaller big? ------------------------- bigger cold ------------------------- colder hot -------------------------- hotter CCQ's: What are the exceptions ------------------- good, bad, far What are the comparatives? ----------------------- better, worse, further In the structure more + adjective, the teacher will elicit the use of the expression with adjectives like interesting, beautiful, crowded, modern Pronunciation: Students will listen to an audio with four sentences and will express what words are stressed and if the intonation increases or decreases.
Students will fill in the blanks with the adjective in brackets using the comparative. They will have 3 minutes to make the exercise and 2 minutes to check their answers with a partner. Work in pairs. You are two friends who think of spending summer vacations in your dream place. Each one is going to choose a country they would like to visit and compare it with their partner’s. Compare prices, accommodation (hotels), famous landmarks, transportation, and food. They will have 5 minutes to speak. After that, there will be 5 minutes of DEC where we highlight points that were carried out well in the exercise and points to improve.
