Procedure (47-60 minutes)
The teacher tells students they will play a Jeopardy-style game. Explain briefly that they will choose categories and points. Explain that each student will have a little time of thinking the answer before answering.
Explain the rules step by step: One student chooses a category and point value. The teacher reads the question. The student answers. Clarify: Full sentences are encouraged, not required. The teacher decides if the answer is acceptable. Correct answer = points added; incorrect = other team can try. Demonstrate one easy question.
Students take turns choosing categories and point values. The teacher reads the questions clearly. Allow 30-45 seconds of thinking per question. Encourage justification: Why? How do you know? Special rule for NAVLE category: Fewer questions Higher points Teams must explain their reasoning briefly
Offer one final double-points question (any category or NAVLE). Reveal answers dramatically.
Announce the winner. Ask quick reflection questions: Which category was difficult? Which one was fun? Praise effort, and participation.
