Description

In this lesson students will be able to identify the colours of clothes and correct designate between singular and plural articles.

Materials

Abc Pair Work Placemat
Abc Power Point Presentation
Abc Astornaut Balance Game

Main Aims

  • Students will be able to use It's and They are accurately with colours and clothes.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Review Vocabulary: Dress, Shirt, T-shirt, Skirt, Hat, Jeans, Trousers, Socks, Shoes
  • Structures: It's (green). | They are (blue).

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To get students moving and ready to learn.

The teacher will present a video for the students to follow and dance with.

Review (6-7 minutes) • To activate prior knowledge and prepare to extend that knowledge.

Review singular articles of clothing. Remind them about the target structure, What colour is it? asking about students' clothes Play the power point games choose your path.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To help students recognize the difference between the singular and plural words.

Review the plural words. Add the plural structure ( This is a typical method the students have seen before and should understand easily)

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Play a bad luck billy style game. The students will repeat the answer taking turns until the moon crashes into the volcano. The last player to speak is the looser and the other 2 teams recieve a star. Students are familiar with this game and up to 6 students can be called

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Play Astronaut Balance Students race to say the answer first. The winner gets to try and place an astronaut on the "planet" if the planet doesn't break they get 2 stars if not they get nothing.

Free Practice (12-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Play Tug of War or Pencil Roller based on the student attendance Tug of War: 2 students place 1 small object from either of their belongings in the center space. Then the pair rock paper scissors and "pull" the object towards their end zone one space. Repeat until the object is "pulled" off the board. Pencil Roller: For classes with odd numbers of students. Up to 3 players can play. The student's rock paper scissors to start and the winner rolls their pencil across the mat. Where it lands the students make a question for the other student(s).
