Procedure (34-40 minutes)
T displays 1 to 2 questions: Have you ever had a problem with an ATM? What can go wrong when using an ATM? Ss discuss in pairs (breakout rooms).
T says: Ss complete the Google Forms noticing task while listening. Examples (from the transcript): They rushed to ______ money out of the faulty machine. Some people started ______ into the queue. The police arrived and ______ off the ATM. The bank would ask people to ______ back the money. Ss compare answers in pairs. T checks answers briefly.
Meaning Match the phrasal verbs with their meanings: take out (of) → remove money from a machine push into → enter forcefully switch off → stop a machine pay back → return money Form T shows structure using boxes / formulas: take the money out (of the ATM) pay the money back / pay it back T confirms: S + verb + noun + particle S + verb + pronoun + particle Aim: clarify grammatical form. Pronunciation Sentence stress: The ATM broke down Immediate correction
T shares a Google Form with gap-fill and multiple-choice exercises. Ss complete the task individually. Ss compare answers in pairs in breakout rooms. Whole class feedback and answer check.
T writes a model sentence on the board related to the listening topic, e.g.: Although the ATM broke down, I managed to get some cash later. T models the sentence and highlights the use of a phrasal verb in context. T gives instructions: Now write one or two sentences about yourself or an ATM problem (real or invented) using at least two phrasal verbs from the lesson. Ss write individually (1 to 2 minutes). Ss share their sentences in pairs or small groups (breakout rooms). T monitors and notes good use of the target language and errors for feedback.
Content feedback: brief sharing. T writes anonymised errors on the board. Ss correct together (DEC).
