Subsidiary Aims

  • To reduce anxiety related to exams and corrections.
  • To clarify frequent errors and misunderstandings.
  • To encourage self-correction and peer explanation.
  • To reinforce confidence and motivation.

Procedure

Settling & Framing the Session (3-5 minutes) • Create a calm, supportive atmosphere and set expectations for the review.

The teacher welcomes students and explains that the session is for learning and understanding, not grading. Emphasize that mistakes are normal and useful. No exams are corrected yet at this stage.

Test Review (32-35 minutes) • Clarify common errors and reinforce correct answers through guided discussion.

The teacher selects key exam questions that many students struggled with. Questions are written or projected on the board. Students are invited to suggest answers before the teacher confirms. The teacher highlights patterns of mistakes without naming students.

Student Questions & Clarification (12-15 minutes) • Encourage learner autonomy and collaborative problem-solving.

Students look at their own exams. They identify one or two questions they found difficult. Students ask questions openly. When possible, classmates explain answers before the teacher intervenes.

Wrap-Up (3-5 minutes) • Reinforce confidence and close the session on a positive note.

The teacher highlights general progress and effort. Mention common improvements seen in the exams. Encourage students for the next week.
