Procedure (32-42 minutes)
- T will show a video of a kid narrating a story to his father and ask Ss questions: "what is the kid doing?" talking about an animal "is he talking about now?" no "is he telling a story?" yes "can you tell a story about any thing?" yes "can it be about travelling or a trip?" yes - T explains the concept of narration. - T sets the objective for the lesson. "today we will learn how to narrate a story."
- Display a short narrative text (book page 22) - ask Ss to read silently (3 minutes) to answer the following questions: 1- who did Jack go to Australia with? 2- who did he meet? 3- did he enjoy his holiday? - ask Ss to share answers in pairs (2 minutes). - T asks Ss to look at the linking words in bold in the text and answer activity (3a SB page 22). (2 minutes) - check answers in pairs. - provide answer key to check their answers. - ask then to find one more example of each of the linking words in the text (2 minutes) - provide answer key for group check.
-T will start analyzing the reading text for the students by telling them "let's learn how to write a text similar to it." -T will start with the content analysis by eliciting some ideas from the students. -T will move on to the next part which is how to organize their paragraph by explaining topic sentence, supporting sentences and concluding sentences. -T will elicit and clarify the language that can be used when writing a paragraph. - T will give examples to functional sentences to help Ss while writing such as: I'll never forget, it was ... ago, etc.
- T will provide Ss with prompts to help them think (SB activity 5a page 22) (2 minutes) - T will ask students to write notes using prompts in activity 5b. ( 2 minutes) - T will ask students to use their notes and start writing a paragraph about a journey they had. (10 minutes)
- T will ask students to share their paragraphs and answer: 1) where was the journey? 2) with who?/ 3) when was it? - T will ask students about their partner's paragraph. - T will write common mistakes she got while monitoring and correct them with Ss.
