Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about finding fame in the context of on the internet

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of finding fame on the internet

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T shows picture of internet celebrities and ask: does any body know them? do you agree with them or not?

Pre-Reading/Listening (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

- T provide PTV to Ss. - ask them to listen to audio and answer activity 1a page 65 - ask them to discuss their answers in pairs - discuss answers with them to check their knowledge

While-Reading/Listening #1 (7-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

- ask Ss to try to answer activity 1b page 65 - tell them "share and discuss your answers" - listen to the audio again to check their answers. - show an answer key to check their answers from

While-Reading/Listening #2 (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

- ask them to listen again to answer activity 2 - tell them "share your answers" - show answer key to check their answers from

Post-Reading/Listening (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- ask Ss to think of activity 3 page 65 - ask them to discuss in pairs - provide them with examples if necessary. - monitor while they are discussing. - make group discussion to share their opinions. - ask them to think of one good and one bad example of internet celebrities. - ask them to share the examples and see other Ss opinions. - thank and praise them on their efforts - give them feed back
