Description

This lesson consolidates students' understanding of Present Simple, Present Continuous, and descriptive adjectives covered in Week 1 and Week 2, through extended communicative review activities and focused controlled practice, students strengthen accuracy and confidence before completing the weekly mini test. No new grammar or vocabulary is introduced; the lesson focuses on recycling, clarifying, and assessing prior learning.

Main Aims

  • To review and consolidate Present Simple, Present Continuous, and Adjectives usage, as well as to assess the class understatement of the topics and new vocabulary through the weekly test.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Review and consolidate Present Simple and Present Continuous usage.
  • Reinforce accurate use of adjectives for description.
  • Identify areas of difficulty before introducing new content.
  • Assess student progress through a short weekly mini test.

Procedure

Activation (25-30 minutes) • Let the students wake up and start the day with more energy and enthusiasm.

Start the day with a quick dynamic, relax and have fun. "Basta" game.

Review (33-35 minutes) • Reinforce conceptual differences between Present Simple and Present Continuous before accuracy work.

Teacher writes paired sentences on the board: -I work in the reception area. -I am working in the reception area today. -The dog is calm. -The dog is being calm today. Students discuss in pairs: -Which sentence describes a routine? -Which describes "now" or a temporary situation? -Where do adjectives appear? Teacher elicits answers and briefly summarizes: -Present Simple - routines, facts -Present Continuous - now, temporary -Adjectives - after to be / before nouns Review all the structures and answer all their questions.

Vocabulary Review (13-15 minutes) • To reinforce their vocabulary.

Teacher reminds students the most important vocabulary that they brought during the previous week and ask them for some definitions. Clear all doubts they might have.

Quick evaluation (38-40 minutes) • Assess student understanding of Week 1 content.

Students complete the mini test individually. Give them around 30 min to finish it. Teacher collects tests for review.
