Description

In this lesson,students learn about the grammar of should through guided discovery and the most important focus is on the listening task .The lessons begins with a speaking activity about describing feelings and a questionnaire about problems.Finally,students engage in controlled practice to master the new lesson.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At first stage,I will ask students to look at the photo and tell me what should we do?Then in pairs students will discuss it and finally I check with them in class.For exercise 2,I will ask : students do you sometimes do questionnaires in magazines?what kind of questionnaires?and then I ask again what is this questionnaire about?then in pairs students read the questionnaire and then ask and answer questions.Finally,I will elicit answers and I will write the most common ones on the board and I will ask students who disagree with these answers to give reasons why they did not choose them.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Next,I will ask one student to read the listening strategy part and then I will explain for the whole class .Then,I will ask students to tell me what we should do for exercise 3?then I will play the recording and check answers at first with their partners and then in class.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

For exercise 4,at first ,I will write the modal verb of should on the board and ask one student what do you know about this modal verb and ask other students ideas and I will ask them to make examples with should and I will write them on the board and explain the new grammar.Then,I will tell them to work in pairs and decide what zak should or should not do.Then,I will ask a few students to share their ideas with the class and give reasons for their opinion.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

for exercise 5,I will ask students to tell me what should we do and then after that I play the recording but I will tell them to do not worry about the new words they hear ,just focus on the general meaning.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

For exercise 6,I will play the recording for students and then in pairs ,they will check their answers.If they have problems for the meaning of the collocations,I will ask them to look up the meaning and explain it .

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

For exercise 7,I will write these phrases on the board: 1-I know you're right 2-I'm sorry,I can't 3-Maybe you're right. 4-well,I don't know 5-I'm busy 6-I know,but... then I will ask,which phrases reject advise?which agree with advise?then I will tell students they are going to plan and practice a dialogue using the prompts.I should encourage them to use collocations from exercise 6 and monitor and check that students are using the target language correctly.At first in pairs they should practice ,then I will choose one pair to role play the dialogue in class in front of the students.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Finally,as an extra activity,I will ask students to make examples with the new collocations on their own .Then,they will check it in pairs and I will ask from them.
