Main Aims

To provide clarification and controlled practice of vocabulary related to Sea animals, wild animals, Farm animals, Insects in the context of a build-up anecdote reading.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide the opportunity to use the target language in a freer speaking activity where they personalize the topic and share their ideas related to it.
Procedure (37-49 minutes)
Ask some questions and direct the attentions on the topic : 1.Do you have(or have you ever had) a pet? 2.What's your favorite movie about an animal? 3.What's your favorite cartoon animal? 4.What animal would you like to see on a safari? 5.Are there any animals or insects you are really afraid of? 6.Are you allergic to any animals or insects? 7.What are the most dangerous animals or insects in your country? Let everybody participate and say something.
Give them the reading text which is your anecdote about the topic "My poetic travelogue of The great zoo!" which it talks about the all different types of the animals the farm animals,the wild animals,the sea animals and also the insects. Then ask them to read it individually themselves.
Write a question on the board (what animals did she notice in her travelogue? Why did she point to those animals?) and ask them to discuss about that .(without knowing they are noticing the target vocabularies) Part(a):Play the audio track and ask them Which animals can you hear?
Show them the three Ai modified pictures Which is about the three different scenes from the reading text then point to the animals and click on them so that the written form pumps up and tell them to read it aloud so you can check the pronunciation. Part(c):Read the directions of the task and ask them to underline the stressed syllables and do it them selves. Part(d):Play the audio track and check the answers from the previous part then check the pronunciation.
Go to p.161 the Vocabulary bank and set a time for students to do the task individually then compare with a partner and last,check the answers with the audio track.
Listening task :Part(a)Ask Ss to look at the five animals then ask "Which do you think is the most and the least dangerous? Part(b) Play the audio track and ask them to complete 5th to 1st in the chart with the names of the animals and also ask comprehension question so you make sure that Ss are on the task.(monitor) Part(c)Ask them to complete the gaps from memory and then check with a partner(play the audio track if needed). Part(d):Ask "are any of these animals dangerous where you live? Have you ever had a bad experience with any of them?" *Focusing on speaking and accuracy of the language*
