Description

In this lesson, students practice speaking for accuracy and fluency. They review and practice of functional language that is used for shopping during the lesson. The contexts of this lesson are shops and objects to buy at different shops. In the second lesson, they will have learnt all functions they need to know. They will not learn anything new in this third lesson.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Check the projector and materials to be ready. Ask Ss how they feel today. Ask Ss to look at the slideshow Ask Ss "What can you but at these places?" Ask Ss to discuss in pairs. Get feedback from Ss by nominating two of them

Pre-Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students for role playing activity

Show ss HOs Ask Ss to work in pairs and match the shops with their names. Ask Ss to pass their HOs to other students and check other students' answers Tell Ss that the answer key is behind their chairs. Model and drill Show ss HOs Ask Ss to work in pairs and match the objects with their names Ask Ss to pass their HOs to other students and check other students' answers. Tell ss that the answer key is under their chairs. Model and drill

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through ordering two dialogues

Ask Ss to stand up and hold the ribbon. Form the pairs then ask Ss to sit down. Show Ss the HOs. Tell Ss that they will order sentences of two short dialogues. The dialogues are about shopping at a boutique. Ask Ss to check their answers with their friends who are sitting next to them Show the dialogue on the PPT. Drill the sentences once.

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Underline the phrases on the PPT "look for, a pair and out of" Ask Ss to look at the photos on the PPT Ask CCQs Does she want to buy a dress? Is she looking for a dress? How many shoes do you want? Does a pair of shoes have three shoes? Does a pair of shoes have two shoes? Do we say here you are when we take something? Do we say here you are when we give something?

Productive Task-1 (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice speaking for accuracy

Ask Ss to change the object in the dialogue and practice with their partners. Demonstrate the task Monitor and correct Ss Get feedback from two Ss

Productive Task 2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice speaking for fluency

Explain the task to the Ss Ask Ss to pick up one thing from the box. Form the groups according to their chewing gum. Give salesperson and customer cards to the students. Show the shopping list. Ask Ss to look for and buy the things written in their shopping list. Tell Ss that they have four mins Each student will be responsible for one shop. After the salesperson sells all the things he/she has, passes to the other shop Then change the roles and ask Ss to do the same thing again in the opposite role. Give the new shopping lists. Monitor Ss and be careful with the mistakes. Take notes

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Ask Ss what they got from the shops Write the mistakes on the board. Ask Ss to discuss about the sentences. Nominate Ss to correct the wrong sentences
