Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ask students to discuss the following two questions: 1. how often do you travel? 2. do you like it very much? I will ask students to discuss this in pairs in breakout rooms.

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will ask students to read the following sentence and answer the questions that followed: MEANING 1. I RACED to the hospital CCQ: Did I go to the hospital fast or slowly? Did I have an emergency? 2. 3. FORM I will elicit the form from the students (function) PRONUNCIATION 1. I will model words (say aloud) 2. I will ask them to identify # of syllables and stress 3. I will ask my students to drill (repeat after me)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

GIST TASK I will ask students the text quickly and: 1. create a title 2. choose a title 3. organize the paragraphs in the right order I will ask them to use 3min only and this will be individual work

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

DETAIL 1. open questions to determine specific information 2. multiple choice questions 1-2-3 as correct option 3. true/false statements I will ask students to read statements of 1min They will read the text and determine if these are true/false I will ask them to justify their answers

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
