Procedure (33-42 minutes)
the class will be started by a short talk about some rules i follow in my daily life, for example at work or at home. it will be followed by asking students to tell the class about rules they follow or rules they have to obey in their own life.
the teacher will highlight the form, meaning, and use of have to, don't have to, must, mustn't, and can't to talk about rules and obligations, with examples from everyday life (work, home, public places)
I will write example sentences on the board and ask CCQs; is this rule necessary or forbidden I will elicit the structure; sub + must/ have to/ don't have to/ mustn't / can't + base verb, explain the differences, and give pronunciation tips. examples will come from everyday adult situations
students are going to do exercise 7C, page 139 in the grammar bank individually for 4 minuets, filling in the gaps with must, have to, don't have to, mustn't, and can't. they will have 2 minuets to check their answers in pairs, and then we will check the answers with the whole class.
the students are going to be divided into groups of 3. they will have 8 minuets to talk about rules and obligations in their daily life, workplace, or home. they will be monitored, and feedback will be given at the end if needed
