Young Learners - TP2
Beginner (A2) level

Description

In this lesson, students will be focusing on vocabulary and listening. The warm-up will begin with a shopping game called "What Do You Have In Your Bag" where the students will walk around the classroom and "purchase" various items that are made up of flashcards and they will not be allowed to talk in order to prevent the stronger students giving away the names of each object. Once they have collected their items, they will move on to a "mimic game" where first, they will be placed into two groups and after that, each students will stand in front of their peer group and try to tell what they have collected without using words and they will be asked to raise their hands if they know the answer also to prevent the stronger ones over-powering the weaker ones. They will than move onto the listening exercise where they will be asked to listen and repeat the vocabulary both presented by their book and provided by the T. After that, the students will listen to a dialogue between two friends without the text and will be asked to take notes and discuss amongst themselves where the dialogue takes place, what they are doing and what the girls have or do not have in their bags. They will then be given the text and listen again to check their answers and to circle the words they do not know or remember. Finally they will be given the same text but this time the text will have some words and sentences deleted. They will pair up and be asked to make their own dialogue where they have to choose a different setting and items by filling up the gaps and later they will read it out with their partner(s). In this activity the students will also have the choice to choose from the items posted on the white board for inspiration.
