Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Screenshare G-Slides #1. Have Ss look at the pictures and questions. Have Ss share their answers to the questions: "What similarities and differences do you see? What is the connection between the two pictures?" Demo: "A difference I see is her hairstyle." CCQs: Is it the same woman? (Yes). Are we talking about her looks or personality? (Looks). Did her appearance change or stay the same? (Change). Tell Ss: "Today, we are going to look at hypothetical situations in the present in the context of cosmetic surgery."

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Instruct Ss to share their sentences with their partner. Put Ss in pairs in BORs. Monitor Ss. After 3 minutes, Ss switch partners. Demo: "I think he is saying: 'It's time I went on a diet.'" "He is probably thinking: 'If I lost some weight, I’d look younger.'" ICQs: Are we working with partners? (Yes). Do we use the target language? (Yes). How long do we have? (3 minutes).
