Description

In this lesson students learn some words and reading skills through a reading text about body language.The lesson starts with a discussion about " Has it ever happened that someone didn't say anything but you still understood how they felt?".... This is followed by a reading about body language.finally some practice through questions and free practice...

Main Aims

  • To provide scan, gist and detailed reading practice using a text about Body language in the context of gesture - posture - communication

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of words related to body language in the context of gesture - posture - communication

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask them to discuss "Has it ever happened that someone didn't say anything but you still understood how they felt? when was the last time that happened to you ? are u gonna answer 2 questions? how much time do you have? are u gonna discuss it in pairs? So how do we understand people when they don’t use any words? do you think we understand people only by listening to their words? or are there other things that help us understand them?

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

show them a picture and ask them what do they think about it ? are u gonna talking about this picture? ask them if they can guess what is the reading about?

While-Reading/Listening #1 (8-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Practice 1) give them some key vocabulary and their meaning ask them to match.(self discovery) do you suppose to find each vocab's meaning? are you gonna work in pairs or do it alone? how much time do you have ?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

show them the reading text and ask them look at the title and say what they think that we gonna read about ? are you gonna talk about topic? are u gonna work in pairs or group? how much time do u have? then ask them skim the paragraph and talking about the main idea. hand out some question about the reading and ask them to do it in pairs.(ccq and icq ) give them another task (teaching vocab) work in pairs (scan) + CCQ+ICQ

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

mark 2 important words ask them about the meaning . now ask them discuss abot book or movie that the read or and watched about body language.discuss it in a group + ICQ + CCQ
