Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about The lonely generation in the context of Social network

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a Short paragraph in the context of Come up with a solution in the end

Procedure

Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • Warm up -raise curiosity-activate background knowledge

Start with asking Do you prefer contacting face to face or online? When was the last time you met a friend in person? Do you agree that people today spend more time online rather than together? Then right a sentence on the board and ask learners if they think the information is true or not and why(pair-work)

Pre-reading (6-7 minutes) • Activate prior knowledge,teach or pre-teach key vocabulary,predict the content from the title

Using first mini task in order to teach key vocabulary in a self-discovery way Explain the procedure and ask ICQs Check the answers and giving feedback Social network , Active relationship , Loneliness , Disconnect , Effective , Remember to give the meaning in a sentence when you are giving feedback and ask CCQs to make sure the meaning is set

While-reading (6-7 minutes) • Active comprehension not translating,pressesing text step by step

We are done with guesses and start with tittle -what generation do you think does it refer to? Skim the text and share your answers with your partner to see whether you are true or not (Pair-work) and feedback

While -reading (10 minutes) • Active comprehension not translating,pressesing text step by step

Using second hand outs but before that Explain the procedure and ask ICQs to make sure everyone got it Underline the key words and answer it base on the text Group-work

While-reading (7-8 minutes) • Active comprehension not translating,pressesing text step by step

Using last handout in order to set the main idea of text and also teach vocab Explain the procedure and ask ICQs

Post-Reading (7-10 minutes) • Deep processing,moving from comprehension to production,personalization

Creat a mini solution In groups ask them to think of a solution to the problem mentioned in text and write down the best solution in 3 sentences Then share them with class any give feedback
