Description

In this lesson students will learn and practice lexical terms realeted with holidays. (Queue, luxurious, delayed, peaceful). Follow up with some text work and peer feedback.

Main Aims

  • To provide review of Holiday vocabulary, lexical terms and the correct use of words like: queue, luxurious, etc.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To develop speaking skills and practising vocabulary.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Start lesson by showing main topic 'holiday'. Show slide 2 and ask students what they see in the pictures and if they think do they show positive and negative things about holidays. Also have the students discuss between them ans send them to BOR.

Exposure (7-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Slide 3 - 4 SS are going to read the main text of the topic and are going to select P for postcards/ emails or B for Holiday brochure. Show the images and explaing the ss what does brochure and postcards are. Share on the chat the link for G- form so they can do the activity.

Clarification (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Slide 5 - 6 Show folowing pictures to explaing some words from the lecture that the students might be having problems pronuncing. Add audio for each word so they can repeat. Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Share google forms. Tell ss that the task is about fill in the blanks, choose the correct answer so they can complete the sentences. 3 min act Answer key: tasty, crowded, warm, an excursion, delayed, polluted, peaceful, nightlife, self - catering, luxurious, a cruise. Then OCFB to check answers. 2 min

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Slide 10 on google slides. to wrap up the class, and have students talk in pairs about a holiday they had, if it was good or very bad and tell students they can use some words or ograses of last task. E.g, luxurious, relaxing, crowded, paceful. Use breakout rooms
