To provide writing and speaking practice in using collocations with the word day in the context of describing your week and your habits.
Procedure (34-42 minutes)
Discuss the question: what are things you do every day? Take notes of Ss answers on the slide. Pre-teach every day (something that happens consistently, daily).
Share G-Form via chat. Show Ss how to match the missing sentences to the dialogue. At the end of 3 mins ask Ss to submit answers. Use response tool to see if Ss had any difficulty with any in OCFB. Answers: 1. C) 2. B) 3. D) 4. A) Share G-Doc via chat. In BORs in pairs have Ss underline phrases with the word day for 2 mins. Check their work in OCFB
Meaning Show G-Slides. Do an example to demonstrate they should match the picture with the term. Share link and tell each Ss which slide is theirs. Check answers in OCFB. Ask CCQs. Bad day: Do you feel happy on a bad day? (No) Do many things go wrong on a bad day? (Yes) Have a good day: Do I want you to enjoy your day? (Yes) Is this something we say at the beginning of a conversation or the end of a conversation? (the end of a conversation) If I say: 'have a good day!' what can you say back? (You too!) A day off: Do you go to work on a day off? (No) Can we relax on our day off? (Yes) The other day: Does it mean today? (No) Do we know which day it happened? Does it certainly mean on Sunday? Ask Ss to categorize the phrases by adverbial phrases and noun phrases. Give an example. Explain there are only 2 nps and the rest are adv phrases. Put Ss in pairs and show them their assigned slide. Have Ss listen twice to the recording of the phrases and put '_' between the words that link together.
