Description

In this lesson, I want to teach my students 5 related words about the subject "Travel" based on the PowerPoint that I created. This lesson starts by introducing the topic "Travel" by telling what students do at the airport. This just followed by show them more photos to activate their previous knowledge about traveling and airport and some other related words. Then I show them the pictures about the words that I want them to learn. After that I show them the pronunciation of each word, then I show them the words with pictures. In this part, I want to do CIC to check the students, pronunciation. The next stage is controlled practice such as making sentences, filling in blanks, etc... . Upcoming is that I want them to come to the board and explain the meaning to make sure they understand everything. Finally I want them to describe their friends who travel a lot and use this words.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of 5 related words for doing thins in the airport in the context of Travel

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about What do their friends do in the aiport in the context of Travel
  • To provide process writing practice of a report of their friends at the airport in the context of travel
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation between them to provide a dialog about traveling in the context of Travel
  • To provide review of the words uses in airport in the context of Travel

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I use stories and show them some photos in order to help them review some words about airport

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I want them to ask their partners that what they have done in the airport to reach the airplane

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I show them the words with pictures and teach them the meaning and ask CCQs about words to help them understand the meanings

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I show them the pronunciation and do CIC

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Semi-Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

To know the meanings making some sentences is a good way to make sure that they have understood everything.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I let them to talk freely about a friend who travels a lot Ask others to take notes then summarize the previous talks
