Procedure (33-44 minutes)
Start telling students about your job: I work as an English teacher. I like my job, and sometimes I need to talk to my students, send messages to teachers, and also write to my boss. Then, show this question on the screen: Why do you need to talk to your boss? What is difficult about writing to your boss?
Show Ss an email where you asked for a raise. Tell them to identify the purpose of your writing by providing a multiple choice question. Then, elicit their ideas and check the correct answer
give them strips of paper with different parts of the email. Ask them to organize the email and identify the elements of each part. Ss can work in pairs.
Give Ss a template to write a formal email to their boss requesting something. Provide some examples on the screen, and ask them to select one of the topics or one of their own ideas.
write some errors using informal language and ask them to correct the mistakes Provide content feeback by asking them the following: what platform do you use to write emails? Is it difficult for you to write a formal email? Have you written an email to your boss requesting something before?
