Description

During the lesson the students will become familiar with the sound and basic grammar of English through the use of presentations. The lesson will start with an introduction of the abecedary in english as well as the numbers 1 through 20. The lesson will finish with the student creating a short introduction about her and another person.

Main Aims

  • To provide review of vocabulary necessary for introducing people in the context of personal information like name, age, phone number and occupation

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of the sounds of english
  • To provide clarification of language used for phone numbers and ages

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

the lesson starts by explaining what are the differences between the sounds of English and Spanish

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

The teacher shows the alphabet and explains the individual sounds of each of the vowels and consonants

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills
