Procedure (41-48 minutes)
Introduce leisure activities topic with vocabulary. Ask Ss to match words to pictures together as class. Elicit from Ss what they like to do in their free time. Write responses on the G-Slide. running _C_ walking _F_ swimming _E_ reading _D_ biking _A_ hiking _B_
Meaning Introduce other vocabulary on next G-Slide, having Ss match words to photos. Go over answers together. 2 video games 6 cinema 1 restaurant 7 walk 8 run 4 music 3 gym 9 guitar 5 TV Form Show G-Slide and draw Ss' attention to collocation, using "go for a run" and "go for a walk" as examples. Have students fill in the blank with vocabulary provided, then discuss answers in OC with students practicing saying/reading sentences aloud. Ask CCQs and follow up Qs again to probe understanding: 1) Do you enjoy ____? 2) What do you enjoy more than _____? 3) How often do you___?
Show G-Slide with survey definition, review the meaning and ask if Ss have participated in a survey before. Tell students they're going to listen to a recording about leisure activities. Explain that they will only be listening for main idea. Play the audio then have Ss select best summary/main idea of the recording using the G-Form. Review responses and correct answer "B" as a class.
Show G-Slide with fill in the blank survey list. Have Ss on their own anticipate answers for the activity blanks. Then play audio again and let them compare their anticipated answers and complete the rest of the fill in the blanks. Next put Ss in BORs to compare answers for 3-4 minutes and fill in audio script G-Slides together using their answers from the survey list listening task. Show answers (full audio script) and read script together as a class on next G-Slide.
Tell Ss they're going to work in pairs and find out what each other likes to do in their free time. Show G-Slide with suggested questions they can use. Tell them to write 5 sentences on slides provided about what they learn, confirm that they understand the instructions by asking: do you write about yourself or your partner? What do you write about? Where do you write? Then put them in BORs to discuss for 5-6 minutes. In OCFB, have each student share what they learned. After each share, ask if or what they had in common. Identify and go over 3-4 DEC points to close the lesson.
