Description

In this lesson students will be presented the topic of "What couldn't you live without?." They will be asked reasons why that is and to use expansive language to describe what the item is, why it is important describing the item shape color weight smell etc what it is used for and any stories or memories related to it.

Procedure

What could you not live without? (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In a slide with some pictures T will pose the question. What do this pictures have in common? Make the Ss think from the start on items they consider important. Will solicit ideas T will write these on the slide as they are speaking to engage them from the start, Questions When I ask what items could you do with out? Are we talking about people? Answer. No. we are talking about things When I say I couldn't do without? is it replaceable? Answer No

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • T will play 3 short audios to get the students used to the Target Language

T will play 3 short audios and instruct them to listen to the audio and to get the gist of what the people in the ausio are talking about. Just 2 simple questions. Then they will need to report back with their finding. The audios are short and provide a meaningful examples of how the Ss need to construct their dialogue in future tasks. T will provide a link to a google slide. They are to work individually Q Are these items valuable to them? A. yes very valuable Q Can they be easily replaceable? A Some maybe bit not all

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To provide exposure to Target Language by provide Ss a little longer voice recording

T to play a voice recording that describes a morning routine and details things that the author cannot do without. Ss are instructed to work in pairs in BOR if required. discuss the audio and fill out some questions using google slide. A link will be shared with the students. The questions will be already prepared and the Ss will need to fill out the slides and report back to the group Q Can the Speaker do his morning routine without his important items? A No he needs 3 items to persfom his routine Q Does the speaker do these items every day? A No but almost everyday

Productive Task(s) (15-22 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills Speaking

This will be the main task of the class. T will ask Ss to work in pairs. Using a google slides as framework students will be asked to create a list of 4 or 5 items then have their partner interview them about the item that is important to then=m and could not do without. Ss need to take notes possibly in the google slides. This will be done in BOR T will join to observe the interaction and the speaking practice. As they conclude the activity it will be followed by a group discussion where one student will present the other students item and describe what it is why is important.

Speaking using Target Language (5-6 minutes) • Use Target language and productive skill Speaking

Productive task Ss will have interviewed their partner and ask about their important itemsm. In this section the students will present the item to the class on behalf of the student. The aim is to have them practice the Target language

Feedback and Error Correction (2-3 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T will provide correction or alternative to the phrases used as means of providing feedback to the students
