Description

In this Lesson students learn about Possessive Pronouns. The topic main topic is Family, where in the class they will lear what a family tree is and make one themselves. After that they will with fill in the gap and drilling use possesive pronouns in a sentence.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of possessive Pronouns in the context of Family and Family Trees

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Family lexis in the context of Family and Family Trees

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Jumble word on the w/b Door-rodo Ball- lbla Write - FMALYI on the bored. Get SS to un jumble the word.

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- Will show the picture of Ayse's Family tree on the bored (Projector). -Explain what a family tree is GIVE 1 cut out label to each student and ask them to come to the w/b and put it on the family tree on where they think it should go. "I will now give you a piece of paper with a family name title" "I would like you t put it under which picture you think it should go under on this family tree"

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Give out Worksheet of Ayse's Family tree. Students will write the names of the Family using the information box below the tree. Then they will write the family title names- the first letter for each has been done. ( F- Father, A- Aunt) Worksheet: Family Tree Writting the names and family Title

Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

They will do a personalized family tree where they can take home Stage 1 :Firstly: Teacher will draw his family tree on the w/b- as an example Stage 2 : Then Students will draw up there own family tree. Including Names, Family Title and Drawing the pictures of what they look like

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • Explaining Possessive Pronouns

Possessive Pronouns in sentence form with the students. - Explain the words "HIS"and "HER"- Show examples by pointing saying His name is .... and can show from the family tree.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To make sure they have understood Possessive pronouns

Give Ss a fill in the gap worksheet. This will help to make sure they have understood "HIS" and "HER" "You will now fill in the gaps according Ayse's family tree" " Write the names of Ayse's family members in the gaps"

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Put Ss in to Pairs "We will now pay a game" You wil role the dice and move the object to the number on the dice" "Close your eyes and and touch one of the numbers" "Move your game marker that many spaces" Pair 1 "Ask Who is this? and point to the name in the box" Pair 2 "Answer; "He is / she is Ralph's ........
