To provide product writing practice: The students should be able to construct their own sentences using the sports related vocabulary discussed during the lesson in the context of sports
Procedure (6-43 minutes)
“Sports Stand Up!” 5 min : The teacher will ask the students to stand up on the sports that they like. - Ask: “Stand up if you like… football / swimming / e-sports, etc.” - Quick chat: “What sport is popular at your school?” and the students will Stand up, interact, answer quick questions
A. - show pictures (coach, changing rooms, track, locker, match). - Elicit meaning through pictures or simple clues. - Drill pronunciation. - Guess meanings, repeat pronunciation B. - Students complete gaps with vocabulary (coach, changing rooms, track, locker, match) - Complete the tasks individually.
Exercise 1: Controlled Practice: Read the sentences and replace the words or phrases in bold with the correct form of these verbs. - Students complete gaps with vocabulary (changing rooms, coach, track, etc.). - Check answers quickly in pairs, then whole class. - Complete exercise individually, compare answers
The teacher will show an anagram of the sports related vocabulary and the students will rearrange the words then write their answers on the board. Then the teachers will ask students randomly to construct their own sentences
Verb–Noun Forms Input 5 min - Write on board: win / beat / score / lose / compete / train / hit. - Concept check: Difference between win vs beat? Example: “We won the match” vs “We beat the other team.”
The students will answer the given worksheet in order to practice the discussed noun verb. Then the teacher will monitor the students while answering the activity and check the work after.
